Summer of 2011

Stanley's summer was not as exciting as last summer but at least there was some time for his favourite activity - running his but off! - and his favourite person - "his grandmother" (he get's all excited and happy every time he even sees a lady looking alike her!)

He had to do some of his business even though it was rainy outside...

Happy resting in his personal armchair...

One day of sailing in the archepilago...

"Me and my best friend"

Nursing Mr Pig

Our friend Pelle helped us to get a bike and also fixed it so that Stanley can run along.

So we biked to Djurgården and back....

Stanley in his going crazy in the couch moode

...more of a resting moode...

..sometimes he had to wait a long time for someone to play with him....

...at some points even not wellcome :(

lovin his new bed - and he hasn't chewed on it (yet...)

He made some new friends...

Like Elsa; she's going with boat A LOT:...

She was all excited over Stanley (perhaps they remembered each other from when they met last summer?)

This is Stanley's new Saluki-friend, a puppy called "Stoffe". Here at the water in the exercise yard...

Sometimes we run into beauties on our evening walk. This lady is from Greece :)

Our friend Björn use to come out with us (another favourite person of Stanley as you can see)

Stanley and Björn (and me :S ) has something in common: Mc Loving Donalds...

The reason behind no other funny adventures this summer: Emelie's driving education.. Stanley would probably had his license by now...

Stanley meets Frank at Gärdet

Resently we have started to go to a big park called Gärdet now and then. There are huge areas, but no fence to the traffic, so I've hesitaded to go there earlier on. Now we've been there three times without any problems, and hope it will continue that way. Watching his joy of being able to stretch out his legs to the fully is really great.

Indoor activities

These videos shows parts of Stanleys training program. Stanley easily learns, but only obeys when it suites him ;) I love his integrity though. He does not sell his soul for treats... Please excuse my silly talking like to a baby voice! :S These Videos are many but very short each one of them, just a few seconds.

To sit nicely and "shake hands" is a piece of cake (especially if one get's a piece of cake)

Making the U-turn. "Titta på mig" means "look at me" (in the eye that is):

Walking nicely close to me (and the dog-candy):

It takes many bullets to "kill" Stanley (I say "Bang - you're dead!" in Swedish. Luckely he don't know the meaning. I saw this like a circus-trick)

Where is the hamburger??? Stanley is not a good seeker, so the treat needs to be hidden extremely easy. This time it was a hamburger from mc Donalds, without everything except the bread and the meat (yes, I know I spoil him :P )

Dog-islands, Drottningholm 30/4 2011

The unreliable ice has melt and the soil is saturated with interesting fragrances that has thawed. However this wonderful, royal place - where the dogs may run lose - invites to more then just sniffing. Look at what wonderful time we had:

After a lot of fresh air, Stanley, our friend Per-Martin and I, crashed at the café "Brostugan" right at the bridge to Drottningholm. Since it was a little too chilly to sit outside we were very happy to discover that they had opened a small room where dogs were allowed. It's very uncommon to allow the dogs at cafés and restaurants in Sweden. It's great that many cafés soon will open their outdoor seating! Spring has come! PS. Per-Martin is the photographer of picture #1, 4 and 5

...and visible too

Today we went to Norra Djurgården (huge park) and let Stanley run loose. He was so happy that there was no fence! With only one road running through the fields and almost no traffic, we felt safe. If we couldn't slow down Stanley, we could simply stop the car if one was coming. Earlier this winter we bought a lamp that is visible for 2.5 km and also, according to the seller, developed by the american army. I don't know if it's true, but it is really efficient to see him when he is running around. A normal dog would run in a 20-200 meters radius from the keeper, but Stanley has like 2000 meters radius. Mostly we could just see the lamp as a speed-line far away. But when he was tired he came and strolled with us (sort of) and went ahead to the car and willingly got in. No rabbit, no roe-deer, no fire-works and no will to escape...today. But a lot of happiness! Pictures from earlier this winter:

Stanley in red

Stanley's "grandmother" bought some winter clothing for Stanley the other week! It is not just because of the good look, more because of the cold wheather in Sweden. He looks discontent at the pictures, but he don't mind the clothing as much as the camera. The snow on the picture is gone by now. Spring is coming, but today it's snowing again. Perhaps he will use this cover more days before summer, April can be quite a mess.

Good morning, world...

Saluki Look Alike

The other week we ran into the saluki dog Simson! It was he that spotted us first and gave us a curious gaze. He looks just like Stanley's long-haired cousin! He and Stanley are both just as shy in front of the camera, so I apologize for the not so fantastic pictures and thank Simson's keeper for his patience with holding the dogs.
